What is ValEdSmart and who runs it?
ValEdSmart is an online learning platform run by the Vivekananda Institute of Values (VIVA), set up in 2023 under the Ramakrishna Mission. It hosts the Foundation of Citizenship Program — a value education course for middle-school children, available in English and Hindi.
How do I create a facilitator account?
Visit tc.rkmviva.org and click Sign Up in the top-right corner. Complete the registration form and you can then enrol in the Foundation of Citizenship Program bundle.
Is the course free for facilitators?
Yes. The Foundation of Citizenship Program bundle is completely Free. There is no cost to enrol or access any of the course materials.
Course content
What does the Foundation of Citizenship Program cover?
The program has 16 chapters and 17 lessons covering Atmashraddha, being heroic, expanding yourself, living in harmony, seeking perfection, Shraddha for one's nation and culture, and six Awakening Practices — discrimination, service, concentration & focus, same-sightedness, positive engagement, and developing towards one's ideal. It concludes with becoming an awakened citizen.
Is the content available in both English and Hindi?
Yes. The course bundle is available in both English and Hindi. Facilitators can choose whichever language suits their classroom, and downloadable handouts are provided in both versions.
Where can I download the Facilitator's Guide?
After logging in and enrolling, go to Chapter 1 — "Course Facilitator Guide for all 16 Modules & Module 01." Open the first lesson and click the Download button next to the Course Manual PDF.
Using the platform
How do I track my progress through the course?
The left sidebar shows all chapters and lessons. After completing a lesson, click Complete and Continue to mark it done. Overall progress is shown as a percentage at the top of the sidebar.
Can I access the platform on a mobile device?
Yes. The platform works on any modern browser — desktop, tablet, or smartphone — at tc.rkmviva.org.
Where can I find training videos for facilitators?
Scroll to the bottom of the homepage. Under "Our Videos" you will find the ValEdSmart Teacher Training Video in both English and Hindi on YouTube.
